Monarda viridissima Correll is a perennial herb that is endemic to Texas. This plant can reach heights of up to 32 inches, or 81 centimeters. Its flowers come in white, red, pink, or purple, and bloom from June through October. It grows in openings and clearings within post oak woodlands. It is classified as a vulnerable species, threatened by habitat loss and fire suppression. Between 20 and 100 occurrences of the species have been recorded across its native range.
