About Mocis proverai Zilli, 2000

Mocis proverai is a moth species in the Erebidae family, first formally described by Alberto Zilli in 2000. This species is distributed across Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. A recent publication has reclassified Mocis frugalis, a species found in Asia and Australia, as a separate species distinct from Mocis proverai. The two species can only be told apart through microscopic examination of their genitalia. The forewings of Mocis proverai measure between 18 and 21 millimetres (0.71 to 0.83 inches) in length. The larvae of Mocis proverai feed on a variety of grasses, including sugarcane and oat.
