Mocis mayeri is a moth species in the family Erebidae. It was first formally described by Jean Baptiste Boisduval in 1834, and bears its scientific name Mocis mayeri Boisduval, 1834. This species has a broad distribution across Africa, where it has been recorded in Cameroon, Cape Verde, the Comoros, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, Réunion, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, the Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, the Gambia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The species is also found outside of Africa in Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
