About Mocis marcida Guenée, 1852

Mocis marcida, commonly known as the withered mocis, is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. This species can be found along the eastern coast of the United States ranging from North Carolina to Florida, extending westward to Texas. Rarely, it may stray as far north as New York. It has a wingspan of approximately 47 millimeters, which equals 1.9 inches. Adult Mocis marcida are active between April and November across most of their range, and are active year-round in southern Florida and Texas. This species produces multiple generations each year. Its larvae feed on a wide variety of grasses.
