About Mocis latipes Guenée, 1852

Mocis latipes, commonly known as the small mocis moth or striped grass looper, is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. This species is distributed from North America, ranging from southern Ontario and Quebec south to Florida, west to Arizona, and north to Minnesota, and extends south through Central America into South America. The wingspan of adult Mocis latipes measures 33–43 millimetres, which is equal to 1.3–1.7 inches. Adults of this species are active and can be found in flight from June to October each year. The larvae of Mocis latipes feed on a variety of grasses, including rice and corn. They have also been documented feeding on beans and turnip.
