About Mionectes rufiventris Cabanis, 1846
The grey-hooded flycatcher (Mionectes rufiventris Cabanis, 1846) measures 13.5 to 14 cm (5.3 to 5.5 in) in length and weighs approximately 14 g (0.49 oz). Males and females have identical plumage. Adult individuals have a slate gray crown, nape, and face, with dark olive back and rump. Their wings and tail are dusky olive. Their chin and throat are pale gray, which transitions to buffy olive on the lower breast, and becomes bright cinnamon-buff on the belly, flanks, and undertail coverts. Both sexes have a dark brown iris, a long dark brownish gray bill with a pale pinkish base to the lower mandible, and medium brownish gray legs and feet. This species is distributed in southeastern Brazil, ranging from Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo south to southeastern Mato Grosso do Sul and northern Rio Grande do Sul, and extending west into southeastern Paraguay and Misiones Province in northeastern Argentina. It inhabits the Atlantic Forest biome, occurring in both the interior and edges of primary and secondary humid forest. Its elevational range extends from sea level up to 1,000 m (3,300 ft).
