About Microtia elva Bates, 1864

Microtia is a monotypic genus of butterflies in the family Nymphalidae, found in the southern United States and Central America. This genus contains only one species, Microtia elva, which is commonly known as the elf. The scientific name Microtia elva was first described by Bates in 1864. Caterpillars of this species feed on plants from the genus Tetramerium and other species in the plant family Acanthaceae.
