About Microspingus lateralis (Nordmann, 1835)

The buff-throated warbling finch, whose scientific name is Microspingus lateralis, is a bird species that belongs to the family Thraupidae. This species occurs in forest borders and woodland areas in southeastern Brazil. It was previously classified as conspecific with the gray-throated warbling finch; when grouped together, the combined species was called the red-rumped warbling finch. The South American Classification Committee (SACC) determined there was sufficient evidence to split these two taxa into separate species in 2009.
