About Micrommata ligurina (C.L.Koch, 1845)
Female Micrommata ligurina reach a body length of 9โ14 millimetres (0.35โ0.55 in), while males have a body length of approximately 6โ9 millimetres (0.24โ0.35 in). This species has a long, narrow carapace and an elongated abdomen. In females, the cephalothorax and long legs are bright green, and the abdomen is a lighter green with an almost unnoticeable median band. Micrommata ligurina is very similar to the green huntsman spider (Micrommata virescens), but female M. ligurina have a black dot on the carapace. Additionally, adult male M. ligurina have a dark brown median band on the abdomen, with whitish or gray sides. The eight eyes of this spider are arranged in two rows and surrounded by white hairs. Adult individuals of this species can be found in late winter and early spring. Micrommata ligurina ranges from the Mediterranean Basin to Central Asia. Its confirmed distribution includes Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Malta, Portugal, Romania and Spain. These huntsman spiders inhabit herbaceous vegetation.
