About Microloma tenuifolium (L.) K.Schum.
Like other species in the Microloma genus, Microloma tenuifolium is a thin climbing plant. This species can be distinguished by its long, slender leaves — the specific epithet "tenuifolium" translates to "slender leaves" — along with a swollen rootstock. It produces distinctively shaped, waxy, brightly coloured flowers. Its flower sepals are held close to the main twisted flower column. Flowers of this species appear mostly during winter and spring. This species typically grows in southern and western coastal districts, located within a predominantly winter-rainfall region. Most of its range falls within the Western Cape Province, and it also extends into the westernmost area of the Eastern Cape Province.
