About Microlarinus lareynii (Jacquelin du Val, 1852)
Microlarinus lareynii, commonly called the puncturevine seed weevil, is a species of weevil in the family Curculionidae. It is native to interior regions of Italy, France, and Rajasthan, India. This weevil feeds on the seeds of puncturevine (Tribulus terrestris). Along with Microlarinus lypriformis, a related species that feeds on puncturevine stems, M. lareynii has been introduced as a biological control agent to the United States and Canada.
