About Micranthes virginiensis (Michx.) Small

Virginia saxifrage, scientifically named Micranthes virginiensis (Michx.) Small, is a herbaceous plant that can grow up to 30 cm (12 inches) tall. This species blooms in spring, and is most often found growing on rocks, cliffs, or logs. Its stem is covered in fine hairs (pubescent), which is thought to prevent ground insects from reaching its flowers; ground insects are less effective pollinators for this plant than flying insects.
