About Micranthes hieraciifolia (Waldst. & Kit.) Haw.
Micranthes hieraciifolia, which goes by several common names: hawkweed-leaved saxifrage, hawkweed-leaf saxifrage, stiff stem saxifrage, and stiff-stemmed saxifrage, is a species of flowering plant. This species is native to Europe, North America, and temperate Asia. It is distributed across the high Arctic and some alpine regions, including Norway and the Carpathian Mountains, with small isolated populations in the Central Eastern Alps of Austria and the Massif Central of France. It is generally an uncommon species. It reaches a mature height of 10 to 20 cm. Its leaves are oblong to rhombic in shape, thick, and have sparse, scattered teeth. It produces a single, stout, thick stem that is densely covered in glandular structures. Its small, inconspicuous flowers grow in dense clusters, and have petals that range from greenish to purplish in color. It grows in meadows, on solifluction soil, and in areas with well-developed moss.
