About Micranthes ferruginea (Graham) Brouillet & Gornall
Micranthes ferruginea, commonly called russethair saxifrage and rusty saxifrage, is a species of flowering plant. It is native to western North America, ranging from Alaska and northwestern Canada to northern California and Wyoming, where it grows in moist, rocky mountain habitats. This is a perennial herb that grows from a caudex and rhizome system, and produces a basal rosette of leaves. Each leaf can be up to 6 centimeters long, and is thick and fleshy with large teeth along the edges. The inflorescence grows from a slender, hairy peduncle that can reach up to 40 centimeters in height. Thin branches bear both flowers and reproductive bulbils. Each flower has spade-shaped white petals, with the upper petals dotted with gold.
