About Meterana levis Philpott, 1905

The species was originally described as Melanchra levis in 1905 by Alfred Philpott, a New Zealand entomologist. Philpott recorded that both male and female adults of this species reach 35mm in size. The head, thorax, abdomen, and upper wings of the moth are greenish-brown. Its fore wings have faint blackish markings, while its hind wings are gray with dark cilia. The larvae of Meterana levis feed on plants belonging to the genus Plagianthus, with a particular preference for Plagianthus divaricatus.
