About Metanema inatomaria Guenée, 1857

Metanema inatomaria, commonly known as the pale metanema or the yellow-lined thorn, is a moth species that belongs to the family Geometridae. This species was first formally described by Achille Guenée in 1857. Its distribution ranges from east-central British Columbia, southern Northwest Territories, and Yukon in western and northern North America, eastward to Nova Scotia, and southward to Mississippi, Texas, and Arizona. The wingspan of adult Metanema inatomaria measures 25 to 36 mm. Adult moths are active in flight from late May to mid-July each year. The larvae of this species feed primarily on plants from the genus Populus, and will occasionally feed on plant species from the genus Salix.
