Metalasia pungens D.Don is a semi-shrub belonging to the Asteraceae family. This species is endemic to South Africa, where it occurs in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces, ranging from Bredasdorp to Grahamstown. It grows in fynbos habitats at altitudes between 0 and 1800 metres.
