About Metalasia pulchella (Cass.) P.O.Karis

Metalasia pulchella (Cass.) P.O.Karis is a flowering shrub in the Asteraceae family. This species is endemic to South Africa, where it occurs in the Western Cape, specifically on the Cape Peninsula and in the Cape Flats. Its total distribution range covers 244 km², with only 10 to 15 populations remaining. The populations that grow outside of protected areas are currently declining. The main threats causing this decline are urban development, invasive plant species, and wildfires. It is a component of fynbos vegetation and grows at altitudes between 100 and 200 meters above sea level.
