Metalasia massonii is a semi-shrub belonging to the Asteraceae family. This species is endemic to South Africa, where it grows in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces, with a distribution range extending from the Klein Swartberg to Grahamstown. It grows in fynbos vegetation, at altitudes between 300 meters and 1700 meters.
