About Metalasia divergens (Thunb.) D.Don

Metalasia divergens (Thunb.) D.Don is a flowering subshrub that belongs to the Asteraceae family. This species is endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa. Within the Western Cape, it can be found in the Cape Peninsula, specifically growing on Karbonkelberg, Constantiaberg, and the mountain range located between Kommetjie and Smitswinkelbaai. It inhabits rocky slopes at altitudes ranging from 50 to 1000 meters above sea level, and is a component of local fynbos vegetation. Two subspecies are recognized for this species: Metalasia divergens subsp. divergens and Metalasia divergens subsp. fusca P.O.Karis.
