Metalasia cephalotes (Thunb.) Less. is a flowering subshrub that belongs to the Asteraceae family. This species is endemic to South Africa's Western Cape province. It grows in the mountainous areas around Paarl, Franschhoek, and Stellenbosch, which includes the Hottentots Holland Mountains. It can be found growing on mountain slopes at altitudes between 300 and 1200 meters, where it is a native component of fynbos vegetation.
