Metalasia brevifolia is a flowering subshrub belonging to the Asteraceae family. This species is endemic to South Africa's Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces. Its distribution ranges from Nieuwoudtville south to the Cape Peninsula, and east to Gqeberha. It grows at altitudes between 0 and 1500 metres above sea level, and occurs as part of fynbos vegetation.
