This species can be found in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, the Balkan Peninsula, Ukraine, Russia, Transcaucasia, Asia Minor, the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Uzbekistan. The wingspan of adult Metacrambus carectellus ranges from 18 to 23 mm. Adults produce one generation per year, and are active on the wing during July and August. The larvae of this species feed on a variety of different grasses.
