Mesothea is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae, described by Warren in 1901. This genus contains only one species: Mesothea incertata, commonly called the day emerald or plain emerald. This species was first described by Walker. It was originally published under the name Mesothea incertata (Walker, 1862), and some sources note its year of first description as 1863. The species is found in North America, and its MONA (Hodges) reference number is 7085.
