About Mesosa curculionoides (Linnaeus, 1761)

Mesosa curculionoides (Linnaeus, 1761) is a species of beetle belonging to the family Cerambycidae. It is the type species of the genus Mesosa. Carl Linnaeus first described this species in 1761, when it was originally classified under the genus Cerambyx. This beetle has a wide distribution across Europe and the Caucasus, and populations have also been recorded in South Korea. It was previously present in Belgium, but is now considered extinct there. Adult body length of M. curculionoides ranges between 10 and 17 mm (0.39 to 0.67 inches). Known host plants that M. curculionoides feeds on include Larix decidua, Abies alba, Corylus avellana, Fagus sylvatica, and Castanea sativa.
