About Mesoptila compsodes Meyrick, 1891
This is a paraphrased description of Mesoptila compsodes Meyrick, 1891, based on the original species description. The female of this species has a wingspan of 17 mm. Most of its body is pale ochreous, but its abdomen is covered in dense black spots. Its legs are whitish ochreous, with the forelegs partially darkened. Its forewings are elongate and triangular, with the costa moderately arched toward the posterior, and the hind margin bowed and waved. The forewings are light reddish-ochreous, marked with many curved, transverse whitish-ochreous lines, some of which have partial black markings. In the middle of the forewing disc, there is a tuft of erect blackish scales, and a small triangular blackish mark sits on the costa at two-thirds of the costa's length. Its hindwings have nearly straight, crenulate hind margins. They are fuscous-whitish, marked with incomplete reddish-ochreous lines sprinkled with black. All wings have an interrupted blackish line along the hind margin, and ochreous-whitish cilia that are lightly sprinkled with black.
