About Mesogona acetosellae (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775
This species has a wingspan of 40–44 mm. Its forewings are greyish ochreous, flushed with brownish or rufous color, and marked with dark irroration. The lines on the forewings are pale with dark edging, and draw close to one another at the inner margin. The upper stigmata are large with pale outlines, and there is a submarginal row of dark spots between the veins. The hindwings are greyish ochreous, and paler toward the base. The palpi are pink, and the abdomen is ochraceous. The form found in Siberia, eremicola Stgr, is paler than the typical form, but is covered with black striations. The larva is dull flesh color, dusted with black; the dorsal line is dull ochreous, and the head and thoracic plate are brown.
