About Melozone cabanisi (P.L.Sclater & Salvin, 1868)
This species, Melozone cabanisi, has an average length of 15 cm and an average weight of 28 g. Adult individuals have a stubby dark-grey bill, unstreaked olive-brown upperparts, a rufous crown, and mainly white underparts. The rufous coloring of the crown extends to behind the eye, and is bordered along its anterior edge by black; this black border is broken by a white eye ring. The forehead is white, with a thin black line along its lower edge, and the species also has a black malar stripe and a black central breast patch. Juvenile birds are browner on the upperparts, have yellower underparts, and a duller, less distinct head pattern.
