About Melipotis fasciolaris Hübner, 1823

Melipotis fasciolaris, commonly called the fasciolated melipotis or bewitching melipotis, is a moth species that belongs to the family Erebidae. This species occurs in the United States from Georgia and Florida, extending west through Texas to California. Its range continues south through Central America and the Caribbean, reaching as far south as Uruguay. The wingspan of adult Melipotis fasciolaris measures 33–43 mm, which equals 1.3–1.7 inches. The larvae of this moth feed on the leaves of plants from the Prosopis genus. Adult individuals of this species act as pollinators for fetterbush lyonia.
