Megalographa biloba was first described by Stephens in 1830. This moth species, commonly known as Stephens' gem or the bilobed looper, belongs to the family Noctuidae. It has a wide distribution range that extends from the southern United States, southwards through Central America and South America, all the way to Argentina. The wingspan of adult Megalographa biloba measures between 38 and 44 millimeters. In some cases, this species is considered a pest that affects cultivated lettuce.
