About Megadolomedes johndouglasi Raven & Hebron, 2018

Megadolomedes johndouglasi shows clear sexual dimorphism, where females are much larger than males. Both males and females have chelicerae with tooth patterns that are characteristic of the Megadolomedes genus, and their eyes follow the typical arrangement seen in the Pisauridae spider family. This species is distributed in southeastern Australia, occurring specifically in the states of Tasmania and Victoria. Individuals have been collected from multiple locations, primarily along river margins and streamside habitats, which matches the common habitat preference for water spiders in the Pisauridae family. Confirmed notable collection sites for the species include the Forth River in Tasmania, the Gibbo River in Victoria, and a range of other waterways across both states.
