Megacorma obliqua, first described by Walker in 1856, has a wingspan ranging from 120 to 145 mm. This species can be told apart from all other Sphingidae species by a unique combination of three traits: labial palp structure, a long thorax, and specific wing pattern. This moth is found across Sri Lanka, north-eastern India, Myanmar, south-western China (Yunnan and Hainan), Thailand, northern Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, Sabah, Indonesia (Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, Ceram, Papua Barat), the Philippines (including Palawan), Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands.
