About Maxillaria egertoniana (Bateman ex Lindl.) Molinari

This orchid species, currently classified as Maxillaria egertoniana (Bateman ex Lindl.) Molinari and previously known as Trigonidium egertonianum, has densely clustered, ovoid pseudobulbs, each bearing two leaves. Its inflorescence emerges from mature growths, and reaches 25–45 cm (9.8–17.7 in) in length. The flowers are 3–4 cm (1.2–1.6 in) long and bell-shaped. The sepals, petals, and lip range in color from yellow-green to pinkish brown, and have brown veins and markings. This epiphytic species grows on large, wet branches at altitudes up to 900 m (3,000 ft), and produces extrafloral nectar.
