Maxates coelataria is a species of moth in the family Geometridae. It was first formally described by Francis Walker in 1861. This moth is found in Sri Lanka, and across the range from the Indian subregion to Sundaland. Populations of the moth living in Sundaland are classified as a separate subspecies: Maxates coelataria trychera, described by Prout in 1933.
