Matelea obliqua has the scientific name Matelea obliqua (Jacq.) Woodson. It is a species of flowering plant in the dogbane family, and is commonly known by three common names: climbing milkvine, limerock milkvine, and northern spinypod. This plant is a twining herbaceous vine that blooms with maroon flowers during the summer. It is native to the eastern United States, where it grows in calcareous rocky woodland habitats. Across its entire native range, the species is generally uncommon and occurs in low population densities.
