About Manduca schausi Clark, 1919
Manduca schausi is a species of moth that belongs to the Sphingidae family. Its distribution spans from Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica south to Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. This moth has a wingspan between 114 mm and 138 mm. It is morphologically intermediate between two other moth species, Manduca lichenea and Manduca florestan, and shares a similar wing pattern with both of these species. The moth's body and forewings are grey with a faint green tinge, while the upper surface of the forewing is darker than this base coloration. In Costa Rica, adult Manduca schausi can be seen in flight nearly year-round. The larvae of this species feed on Capsicum annuum and Lycopersicon esculentum.
