About Mammillaria muehlenpfordtii C.F.Först.
Mammillaria muehlenpfordtii C.F.Först. is a rapidly growing succulent plant that forms large clusters. It bears gray-green cone-shaped warts covered in drooping bristles. The species has 30–50 white to whitish-yellow marginal spines, each 4 mm long, with 2 to 6 upright central spines growing from the crown of each structure. These central spines range in color from yellowish to brown and gray, and vary in length from 2 to 40 mm. The plant produces carmine red flowers arranged in a wreath-like pattern, each flower reaching 1.5 cm in diameter. It produces long, bright red fruits and brown seeds. This species is native to the Mexican states of Guanajuato, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí, where it grows at elevations between 1700 and 2400 meters.
