About Malus prunifolia (Willd.) Borkh.

This species has the scientific name Malus prunifolia (Willd.) Borkh. It grows between 3 and 8 metres (10 and 26 ft) tall, produces white flowers, and bears yellow or red fruit. Malus prunifolia is native to China, where it occurs in the provinces of Gansu, Guizhou, Hebei, Henan, Liaoning, Nei Mongol, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shandong, and Shanxi; its presence in Xinjiang is unconfirmed. It can adapt to grow across a wide range of elevations, from low-elevation plains at sea level up to mountain slopes reaching 1,300 m (4,300 ft). Outside of China, this plant is cultivated to be grown as an ornamental tree or used as rootstock.
