About Maliattha signifera (Walker)
Scientific name: Maliattha signifera (Walker). Description: The wingspan of this species is 15–18 mm. Male antennae are minutely ciliated. For males, the head, thorax, and abdomen are ochreous white, and the abdomen bears two dorsal black tufts. The basal and costal areas of the forewings are ochreous white with a slight fuscous tinge. The outer area, which extends from the apex to the center of the inner margin, is dark purplish fuscous. This outer area is crossed by an irregularly waved whitish postmedial line that turns pure white towards the inner margin. A diffused dark, somewhat dentate submarginal line is present, along with a marginal series of short dark strigae. The hindwings are pale fuscous. The ventral side of the forewings is fuscous, with pinkish ochreous costal and outer areas. The ventral side of the hindwings is pinkish ochreous, with a cell spot and a curved postmedial line. For females, the body is more suffused with fuscous. The outer area of the forewings has a pinkish tone. Two prominent white lunules are present on the postmedial line above the inner margin. The hindwings are dark fuscous, with an ochreous outer margin and ochreous cilia. Ecology: The eggs are spherical, translucent white, and are laid in a regular hexagonal array.
