About Magnolia compressa Maxim.

Magnolia compressa Maxim. is a species of flowering plant in the Magnoliaceae family. It is native to Yunnan, Taiwan, the Ryukyu Islands, and southwest Japan, and has been introduced to South Korea. When grown in cultivation, it is a small tree, and is only hardy to USDA zone 10. It can be planted in containers and moved indoors during the winter. This species was formerly classified as Michelia compressa, which contains an aporphine alkaloid called michepressine, with the chemical identifier 25454-85-7.
