About Magna myops (Hampson, 1907)

Magna is a genus of moths belonging to the family Erebidae, which was erected by Michael Fibiger in 2008. Magna myops is the only species in this genus, and it was first described by George Hampson in 1907. This species is known to occur only in the mountains of Sri Lanka; all previous records of it from other countries are the result of misidentification. Magna myops produces multiple generations each year, and adult individuals have been recorded throughout the entire year. The wingspan of adult Magna myops ranges from 15 to 19 millimetres (0.59 to 0.75 inches).
