About Madoryx plutonius Hübner

Madoryx plutonius Hübner has a wingspan ranging from 92 to 120 mm. It can be distinguished from all other species in the Madoryx genus by the acute shape of its forewing apex. On the upperside of its forewing, there is a tiny, circular upper silver spot, and an elongated, triangular lower silver spot. This moth is confirmed to be present in Suriname, Venezuela, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Guatemala. It is thought to also occur in Panama and Guyana. The subspecies Madoryx plutonius dentatus is found in Mexico and Belize.
