About Macaria aequiferaria Walker, 1861

Macaria aequiferaria, commonly known as the woody angle moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. This species was first formally described by Francis Walker in 1861. It occurs in North America. Within this region, it has been documented from Maryland and Delaware south to Florida, west to Texas, and is also present in Oklahoma, Mississippi, Kentucky, and southern Illinois. The species can also be found in Mexico. The wingspan of this moth measures approximately 21 millimeters (0.83 inches). Adult moths have been recorded in flight year-round, though the majority of observations fall between March and September. The larvae of Macaria aequiferaria feed on plants in the genus Taxodium.
