About Macaranga gigantea (Rchb.f. & Zoll.) Müll.Arg.

Macaranga gigantea, whose full scientific name is Macaranga gigantea (Rchb.f. & Zoll.) Müll.Arg., has the common name Chia Kubet and one synonym, Macaranga megalophylla. It is a pioneer tree species in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae, native to western Indo-China and Malesia, with a range extending from southern Myanmar south to Sumatra and east to Sulawesi. It generally grows as a small tree reaching 15 metres tall, and rarely grows as tall as 25 metres. Its leaves are peltate and tricuspidate, typically measuring up to 60 centimetres (24 in) in both length and width, growing from a petiole of comparable length.
