It is distributed in North America, with recorded occurrences in Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Ontario, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. This species has a wingspan of approximately 50 mm, which equals 2.0 inches. The larvae of Lytrosis unitaria feed on plant species from the genera Rosa, Crataegus, Amelanchier, Acer, Quercus, and Viburnum.
