About Lysimachia punctata L.

Lysimachia punctata L. is a rhizomatous perennial herbaceous plant that reaches roughly 1.2 meters in height. Its flowers each have five petals, five sepals, and five stamens, and grow in dense clusters in the axils of leaves. The leaves of this species are opposite and ovate. Both the leaves and all flower parts are covered in hairs. Petals are fringed with hairs, and the hairy sepals are entirely green, lacking the orange margin seen on sepals of Lysimachia vulgaris. This species is native to southeastern Europe, extending east to the Caucasus. It has been introduced as a garden plant, and is now widely naturalized as a garden escape on rough ground, along roadsides, and in damp locations.
