About Lysandra albicans (Gerhard, 1851)

The forewings of Lysandra albicans measure 18–21 mm in length. Species in the Lysandra genus are extremely similar and hard to distinguish, and L. albicans was historically classified as a subspecies of Lysandra coridon. It is the palest species in this species complex. The upperside of male L. albicans is almost white, marked with a submarginal line of gray dots that are sometimes heavily faded on the forewings. The female's upperside is brown, with a short submarginal line of orange spots that are heavily faded on the forewings. On the underside, males are white or very light grey-blue, marked with a submarginal line of light spots. Females are ochre, marked with brown dots and a submarginal line of brown dots that are surrounded by orange.
