About Lyonia fruticosa (Michx.) G.S.Torr. ex B.L.Rob.

Lyonia fruticosa, commonly known as poor-grub or coastal plain staggerbush, is a plant species native to Florida, southern Georgia, and the extreme southern portion of South Carolina in the United States. It grows in pine woodlands and shrub bogs at elevations below 100 meters (333 feet). This species is an evergreen shrub that can reach up to 3 meters (10 feet) in height. Its leaves are broadly elliptical and grow up to 6 centimeters (2.4 inches) long. The flowers are white, urn-shaped, and hang downward. The fruit is a dry, egg-shaped capsule with a diameter of approximately 4 millimeters (0.16 inches).
