About Lycopus asper Greene

Lycopus asper Greene is a species of flowering plant in the mint family, commonly called rough bugleweed. It is native to most of North America, and grows most frequently in moist locations, including soil along the shores of lakes. This species is a perennial herb that grows from a rhizome with thick, knobby tips. The plant grows in an erect form, reaching a maximum height of around 80 centimeters, though it has been recorded growing up to one meter tall. Pairs of toothed leaves grow along its stem, and clusters of flowers develop in the axils where leaves meet the stem. Each flower is white and measures just a few millimeters long.
