About Lycia alpina (Sulzer, 1776)
Lycia alpina is a moth that belongs to the family Geometridae. This species can be found in the Alps at altitudes between 1,000 and 2,500 meters, and also in the Jura Mountains. Male Lycia alpina have a wingspan ranging from 28 to 40 millimeters, while females of this species are wingless. Adult moths are active from April to July, and the species produces one new generation each year. The larvae of Lycia alpina feed on a variety of low-growing plants, including species from the genera Leucanthemum, Rosa, Salix, Scabiosa, and Sisymbrium. Lycia alpina overwinters in the pupal stage.
